They tasted just like regular donuts, all my friends and family (non-vegan included) said that they were incredibly good!

Everyone knows the struggle of just finding even just a decent donut recipe. I've tried in the past non-vegan recipes and it's always turned pretty bad or really far from regular bakery donuts. Now that I'm vegan, I was sure that I'd never be able to find a honest recipe. The ones that I've seen so far looked always kind of caky and dry and just didn't look like donuts. Then I found your blog and OH MY GOD I'm just so happy! They were just incredible: fluffy in the inside, a little crispy on the outside gosh!

I'm fulfilled, I can die now, my life is complete. (Kidding ;) lolololo)

Just THANK YOU really, keep going! :)Sophienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24155312.post-1388279683668058942015-11-06T12:16:45.021-08:002015-11-06T12:16:45.021-08:00These were incredible! Essentially, my thermometer said 350 F. A little under your recommended temperature but still within deep-fry range. The donuts fried at this temperature cooked very fast and browned just a bit darker than I would have liked. Perhaps my thermometer was wrong?
They still tasted fantastic. It was super light and had a soft, slightly chewy inner.

During the second rising (just before frying), the donuts puffed up to twice the size and were very soft to the touch. It was so, so easy to disfigure the donut before frying. Any tips on what happened there?

Overall, this was quite a bit of effort for me as I did not have a machine. I hand-kneaded the dough for 15 minutes instead of machine-kneading for 7 minutes.

Still. Worth. It.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Glad I found your recipe. It was AMAZING!

It was incredibly light and airy, crisp from outside yet tender and fluffy from inside. Exactly like an yeast donut.

Where I live, no one sells vegan donuts and This was one treat I missed the most.

I think the best part of this recipe is that the ingredients are very common and can be found in the house. Nothing fancy was needed that I needed to go out specially and buy it. And even though there is coconut milk, there is no coconut flavour. Yay!

We baked half the batch and fried the other half. Both tasted similar except the baked one felt slightly denser but cleaner.

The whole family gobbled this up. I don't think I have ever eaten so many donuts at once in my life. Mmm.

Looking forward to your other posts. Could u maybe one day do a post on why u used these particular ingredients and why the particular technique, like in ur blog post about dosas.
Mineshahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09400329959171717563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24155312.post-36869572855094251862015-01-12T07:41:52.901-08:002015-01-12T07:41:52.901-08:00You can buy refined coconut oil instead of virgin ...You can buy refined coconut oil instead of virgin coconut oil. My husband LOVES them but he doesn't gain weight eating this kind of fatty food.

Yes, they don't keep. Eat them within a day or hours. They are not good the next day. I had to hunt down the vegan friend who suggested to blog it. I gave a lot to this friend. I also gave to my non-vegan neighbor whom was not home when I finished making them. I made a lot for the blog and pictures. OMG, I had to find people who can eat them within hours today. LOL!spiceislandveganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13993360181907389563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24155312.post-27965562045887907752013-03-16T17:20:31.593-07:002013-03-16T17:20:31.593-07:00Gosh ... please don't feel the need to apologi...Gosh ... please don't feel the need to apologize for posting a recipe like this!! I think part of the vegan world has gone WAY too far with fat-free proselyting.

Anyway, like you, I too feel a donut isn't a donut unless it's fried. Yes, I like cake donuts, but they are simply a totally different food!

One question ... these really don't keep, do they?? I've always thought that fried donuts need to be eaten the day they are made (preferably within a few HOURS of being made). Is this a recipe to splurge on when you're having a big bunch of friends over, or is there a way to preserve these??Brenda W.http://www.brendajwiley.com/vegan.htmlnoreply@blogger.com
